7283489 – Cam and Gear

This Cam and gear Part  fits most 1″ Kenmore, Whirlpool, GE, Northstar, Morton and other water softeners.  It is the same Cam and Gear as part #’s 7219545 and WS26X10008

This part is 2-5/8″ across.  This part is NOT interchangeable with the cam for the smaller control valves which are 2-1/4″

Use this cam if your motor has been slipping on the old cam and has worn the teeth on the gear.  Be sure that the rotor and disc can turn by hand and are not bound up, causing the cam and motor to slip on each other!  If the rotor is bound up it may need to be replaced along with the seal kit, so that the cam will turn more freely.
